What are your compulsive behaviors?
In this episode, Kellan talks about “Just as Well” – a song written about troubling addictions. We often think of addictions as external – drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, gambling, and so on. Kellan tells us there are internal manifestations as well – self-criticism, indecisiveness, and fear of imperfection.
Addictions are compulsive behaviors that we use as coping mechanisms. Kellan reminds us that, although some may seem benign, all addictions are damaging in some way or another. It is up to us to assess our own behaviors, and consciously plan to have fewer “addictions” in our lives going forward.
