Every second there is traffic, ads, media, and even people trying to get us to notice something. It is overwhelming. Love can get crowded out.

Being aware of our emotional surroundings is a critical part of a choice to love. We can tell what others are feeling if we look and listen. So much is communicated through the energy of someone's presence. If we are absorbed in our own world, we miss all that. We can learn to focus our attention. That is one of the most powerful skills we can develop. Increasing our awareness is a key part of developing love.
