We are taught that no one will look out for us so we have to look out for ourselves and that everyone else takes a second position. The truth of our humanity is that as we choose to love and serve each other we are far better together. On top of that, a choice to love and serve those around us means that we grow as people and become more than we ever would be just serving ourselves.
