Episode 102 – Myth of Clarity
No one has crystal clarity to start with. Nobody. It doesn't happen that way. Clarity is a red herring. It's an excuse. Most of the time, It's a reason for us not to move ahead. When we want to reason, we go back into nothing. We sink back into mediocrity. I will do it tomorrow, do it later, and get clear on that. Clarity, instead of making things clear, tends to be an excuse for us not to start anything. - Kellan Fluckiger

What you are about to learn
I called today’s episode “The Myth of Clarity,” because there's much mystique around it. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say and even felt myself saying “I'm not clear.” I don't know exactly what I'm trying to do in a given situation. One of the terrifying things is, I don't know what my divine gifts are, do I have any? How do I find them? What is that? And second, is if I'm serving others with those divine gifts, what does it mean to help others with them?
What is wrong in this scenario?
We expect to find absolute crystal clarity before we start, and then we hope the clarity of that vision motivates us to know precisely and exactly what it is that will be so inspiring. We tend to think that when we “find the clarity,” like it’s an object, it will keep us moving. That's not true. None of those things are true.
The Myth - you can't go on without it. That's not true. It's dangerous and counterproductive, dangerous in the sense that it just means you'll do nothing.
How do I get it? How do I find it or create it? We keep on asking ourselves questions how? How? How? Have you heard the nursery song “There's a hole in the bucket”? The farmer’s wife keeps on providing him with the solution, but “Henry the farmer” keeps throwing his wife Liza questions because he keeps on seeking clarity even though Liza is already giving him a concrete answer to the problem. It keeps going round in circles because Henry is still unsure of what to do. That is clarity (or lack of). The feeling that you can’t do anything until you’re clear, but, you don’t know how to get clear… and on and on it goes, and you end up doing nothing. If you're lost and foggy, you have a couple of choices - you can do nothing, which you know for sure will go nowhere. You hope that the fog lifts and that someone will come along and give you some direction. You also hope that their guidance is accurate and that they speak your language and a bunch of other things.
Clarity is not the answer, but the action is the antidote. Action is the answer to I can't go on without it.
Clarity is not something you dig up in the yard. Let's be clear about that. Clarity is something that develops over time as you test things that are in front of you. I have a statement that I created because I got so tired of myself and others, saying, I'm just not clear - I can't do anything. I don't know what to do - I can't do anything.
So here it is: “Clarity is overrated. It’s not found, it’s created.” What this means is this: waiting until you think you have clarity, means that you'll never act and you'll find what you thought was clarity to start with.
One of the big mistakes is that people think that if they get clarity about their divine gifts, or how they could use them, that this is enough to provide intrinsic motivation to make things happen.
My closing remarks
My point in saying all this is none of that would have happened without action. So clarity is overrated. It is not founded; it is created. Don't let your lack of initial clarity about how you are going to serve others with your divine gifts get in the way of creating your ultimate life. Get in the way, take action, and produce over time, the clarity you need to create your ultimate life.
Key takeaways
The real truth is you sitting around waiting till you have clarity of the purpose of your divine gifts, of what you want to do for a business or to add good to the world or how you want to act in your current job or whatever, I've got to have clarity. That doesn't work. You do what's in front of you. You make the choice that you can base on what you have and know. And then you evaluate what has happened because you made that choice.

The circumstances will change. Some doubts will arise. And then it's foggy again. And it's like, well, I thought I was clear, but I'm not sure now, and I don't know. Then round and round we go. So the idea that you can't move on without it isn’t true. The idea that you have to find it, is not true. What will happen is it will develop, so it’s created, not found. - Kellan Fluckiger
The idea that finding “clarity is good” is dangerous. And here's why I say dangerous - sure, it won’t kill you, but it'll mean settling for a life of mediocrity and unfulfillment. And clarity is not motivation. It can be clear to you what you ought to do, or what you could do, and that alone will not provide motivation. - Kellan Fluckiger
