Episode 116 – Presence Explained – Where Are You
“The practice is every distracting thought. Just let it go. Notice it, let it go, and come back to being here, present. Now, I can promise you if you practice that, and you practice it regularly until you're doing 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, a couple of things will happen. The time that you think you can't afford to do that will be more than made up. You'll triple the time, then 15 minutes meditating or focusing on being here. And now you'll gather 45 minutes, three times that time during the day because of increased clarity and focus.” - Kellan Fluckiger

What you are about to learn
Where are you physically? What am I trying to ask here, where are you at this moment? And that means your awareness is here, and you hear the beating of your own heart and the movement of the breath and the feeling of blood coursing through your veins. All of those things are about being present here. Because there are times that you are in a specific room, but your presence is flying somewhere. Maybe, thinking about how to go by this current situation we’re at during this time of the COVID, or perhaps you’re thinking about what you’ll cook for dinner or missing someone because it has been a while since you saw that person. So where are you at this moment? Where is your awareness? Your presence? Your body is here, but your mind is elsewhere. In meditation, one thing that you’ll learn is to focus on your surroundings. Your awareness is here, and your focus is not divided. I also wrote in my book The Amazing Journey Within about meditation.
Your mind needs to be here temporarily - Because our minds are often occupied, we're not somewhere else. In other words, we're not thinking about the beach or the forest or being home or being at work or anything, but we are someone else. And that someone else is a severe problem. That means we're either in the past or in the future. In other words, our mind is thinking about some interaction that we expect that's coming or some interaction that has taken place recently. It's in the past, so we are neither. We're in the future in the past, and we're not here now temporarily in the and so being present in that sense. It covers both of those things. It includes being here physically where you are and being aware of all of the physical and spiritual nuances here and where you are. You are at this moment, and you're not focused thinking about concerned about or caught up in the future, or the past that is difficult to do.
Key Takeaways
“The goal is to live every single moment here where you are. And you might say, Well, what difference does that make? Like, what is the change that will happen in my life because I choose to be present here now? You can't do anything or affect anything or cause anything except here in this moment. You are at cause you're the moving factor the moving cause of action in your life. “
“How to practice that. How do you do that? Well, the first way to practice it is to practice it. Get up in the morning and set some time aside to practice being here and being Now that means take five minutes, set a timer on your phone, and as rapidly as you can increase it to 10 minutes, but at least start with five Practice being here where there are no distractions, turn the phone off, turn all computers off all notifications off, close the door and find somewhere alone and focus on your breath. Breathe in and breathe out. And you might find that boring very quickly, and you'll discover intruding thoughts instantaneously. That's all expected. That's all okay, that's all normal.”
